While most of us would admit that abuse is wrong, there are still lies we believe that impact our actions and allow abuse to flourish.
Here are just a few that I have observed as I’ve talked to people:
* It’s better to be silent & cover up the abuse than to expose it and report it.
* Let’s protect the perpetrator, especially if they are an important man like a pastor.
* It’s better to hide the abuse than to bring shame on the family.
* Every man has the right to watch porn
* If a child has told you they were abused by an uncle they are probably just making it up. Uncle would never do that.
* I probably did something to deserve the abuse.
* I just need to pray more.
Those are just a few. I’m sure there are heaps more. Let’s disrupt the lies and end abuse. Let the light of truth shine into the darkness.
