There is a deep cry in the hearts of hundreds—possibly thousands—of women across the Fiji Islands. It’s a silent cry, a cry for the child you never got to hold in your arms, the child you did not nourish with your breast, the child not sitting at your table.
You have secretly named that child and every year on the due date your heart breaks a little more.
It was their choice to abort, you wanted to give birth. But you could hear the voices of your parents saying, “This will bring shame on our family.” The father of the baby was shouting, “I’m not ready to have children.” The church voices whispered, “You are a foolish woman, don’t you know it’s a sin to have sex before marriage?”
Suddenly, that tiny baby becomes a problem to solve instead of a human to nurture and protect. Scared, alone and trapped, you abort. Thinking that you will be able to move on, but NO!
There is now a deep ache in your heart, the guilt you carry is crippling, a darkness descends over your mind, and feelings of despair sweep over you. You even consider taking your own life. If my baby can’t live, why should I?
It’s time to hear your cry. After all, Jesus hears your cry and He takes a step further to collect all your tears. He is not deaf to your weeping; He weeps with you. The healing you desperately seek is only found as you acknowledge the loss that has occurred through abortion.
It’s time to let your cry out!
